    I just purchased a new laptop that didn’t come with a dvd player. I show videos to my students so needed a way to play dvd’s. This was very much plug ‘n play and I really like that it comes with a USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 to allow for me to be able to use on other tech devices. The cord tucks under the device nicely for easy storage but also means pretty short length (~6″) so need to be on a surface with room for it to be right next to the laptop. It was noisy starting up but doesn’t make any noise when actually playing a dvd. I downloaded Any Player from Windows and it worked seamlessly with the player – all features ok and no set up. Overall, my only downside is it is definitely made of plastic. So, it’s light but also feels VERY delicate and like most DVD players, when the tray slides out, it feels like it could break when you ‘clip’ in the dvd. It being stand alone, there’s not much of a counterbalance so the whole thing kind of tips when you try to put in a dvd. Not a big deal but definitely made me realize that I would not allow my kids to use it.
